Meet Ms. Guess Can Gallop

I really enjoyed the interview with Heidi Lynn Staples at Here Comes Everybody.  Her poems rally me.  Here's one of them, first published in 3rd Bed:

Hang Up All Your Tragedies

They are, after all, fine art.
Why don't you hang them—
old forks dangled

on fishing line,
let the wind
harangue them and you

sit close enough to hear.
Or in yesterday's yard
on a pine

in a sixteenth-century
snow storm.
Or to hold the past

due bills on your
refrigerator door.
We are born

on a ledge
and feel most certain
when we finger the noose.

So it is difficult
to imagine
hanging up the hanging,

folding all catastrophe
into one soft ship,
forgetting that origami
contortion, while it floats.

The Dailiness of Writing

Family_1005_003_1Although I might go months without writing poetry, I keep a Pcr_notebook_1005_1journal and have done so since I was thirteen.  I posted a page of it, at Eduardo's request, a few months ago.

My daughter Pearl (age 20 months) keeps a journal too.  Heres a page from her notebood. I think hers is cooler than mine.
