A Ribbon at a Time

I have always had this sense that TIME is simultaneously moving both fast and slow.  It's hard to explain it, but it has just felt true.  Now that I've been living with an infant for six weeks, it seems truer than ever. 

Pearl doesn't have a 24-hour cycle yet.  She doesn't respond to night and day like we do.  For us, there seems to be an innate urge to sleep at night and wake in the morning.  She seems to experience a night and a day every 3 hours or so.  It's like when you read the astronauts' journals, and they say things like, It's beautiful here in outer space.  I just saw sixteen sunrises!
