My friend Stuart has handed me The Stick, a list of questions that I am to answer and pass along to three other bloggers. Here's the meme, at its finest:
Without further ado, questions and answers:
You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be? The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Of course! Both characters in movies and in books. First one that came to mind: the Jodie Foster character in Hotel New Hampshire, viewed at age 20 or so.
The last book you bought is: Under Flag by Myung Mi Kim
The last book you read: NEST by Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge
What are you currently reading? Great American Prose Poems, ed. David Lehman
Five books you would take to a deserted island: Tender Buttons, The Great Gatsby, Collected Emily Dickinson, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and a cook book.
That's the Stick. And now, I pass the stick on to:
- Shannon (because she can only blog about baby bliss for so long, right?)
- Robyn (because she needs distraction while C experiences all these contractions)
- Mieke (because I'm curious to see her answers)
And anyone else who feels like playing. Enjoy!
Great book choices --- especially those you chose for the deserted island. And hopefully the cookbook would come in handy! ;)

Maybe I'm lacking in imagination, but this question confuses me. Is the question about which book you'd like to see burned? I'm not for burning books, really, but if I have to pick, it's got to be _Who Moved My Cheese?_ by Spencer Johnson, MD. (Hoo-man, yeah! This is dangerous.)
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Nancy Drew and Joe Hardy (sandwich--hahaha)
The last book you bought is: _Lipstick Jihad_ by Azadeh Moaveni
The last book you read: _Under the Banner of Heaven_ by John Krakauer
What are you currently reading? _People Magazine_ and _Us_ [must needs understand why Charlie Sheen is getting dumped (gambling FYI)] also _World Oil_
Five books you would take to a deserted island: Mark Strand, _Blizzard of One_, _The Gift: Poems by Hafiz (trans Ladinsky), _How to Build your Own Guitar Out of Palm Trees_ by MacGyver, _The Case of the Missing Message_ by Carolyn Keene, and the Bhagavad-Gita.

Alas I am too bleary-eyed to write anything or think of anything creative; so I will answer the questions I can.
The last book I bought: Bird by Bird,Anne Lammott for a writer friend. It's a must read for any writer. Also love her Traveling Mercies!
The Last Book I read: The Temple Bombing by Melissa Faye Greene. One of my favorite non-fiction writers (I prefer non-fiction by the way).
Currently Reading: TONS AND TONS OF F*CKING SCRIPTS. Haven't had time to start a new book under the weight of these damn scripts.
I'll get back to you on the rest of the questions.

Hello.
You have a nice blog here! I hope it is okay that I add you to my blogrollinglist? We are a lesbian couple that is trying to get pregnant now, and it is great to read about someone that has made it. :)

oy Robin.
i'm soooo on the spot here! i guess i'll finally come out as a "former reader"...and not a very well rounded one at that.
never having read Farenheit 451..not exactly sure what the question is. and as for answers to your questions, all i can say is that since Harris was born...i seem to have lost my concentration. can't remember more than 2 books i've read all the way through in the last 4 years or so. so sad. i'm in an austinmama bookgroup...but mostly i go for the mom-company. and try as i might to keep current with my New Yorker subscription, i'm horribly behind. sigh.
last two books i actually read for the bookgroup were: _Time Traveler's Wife_ and _Gate to Women's Country_. really enjoyed the first.
last book i bought was: _Parenting Made Difficult_ by british humorist Phil Hogan. haven't cracked it yet.
crush on a fictional character: hmmm...having just watched the first two episodes of L-Word, season 2 last night, i can certainly see the appeal of Shane. but i also had a thing for Candace. but my main squeeze is Abby Lockhart from ER. fictionally...ah...maybe i need to go peruse my bookshelf and it will refresh my memory?
desert island: maybe some Anna Quindlen essays; or some Ellen Gilchrist short stories; a Ruth Reichl food memoir might be good for when eating fish starts wearing me out.
