We got some good news about Jake. He and his new family are adjusting well and happily. I feel very fortunate that Friends for Life, the adoption organization, was able to find the perfect home for our little boy. Here's the email from the director:
I talked to D--- this morning. She is such a lovely woman. They adore Jake, and she raved about how well he has integrated into the family and bonded with her daughter. He is even working out a very good relationship with the cat. She has hired a professional dogwalker to come during the day to walk him and then they walk him morning and night. She said one of the best things about having Jake is that she has been able to see a change in her daughter almost from the moment Jake got there. Her daughter is growing in her acceptance of responsibility and taking great pride in being attentive to giving Jake a good life. He sleeps in the daughter's room and seems to have picked up on the routine of the household and is very comforted by being able to rely on it. We talked about how a clear pack order, calm and a predictable routine are heaven for a pack animal. She says it certainly seems to be so for Jake. They have him on Omega 3 capsules and she said his coat is glistening like a supermodel. It was a very good adoption, indeed.
Pearl asked about "Jay Jay" today, and we told her that we heard that he was doing well. She never responds when we explain Jake's disappearance. I wonder what she thinks happened. At her age, I think it's more natural to contemplate what is present as opposed to what is absent.
Yay! That's terific news. I am very happy for all of you, and so glad it worked out for the best.
Wonderful!
