It's weirdly warm here in Houston, Texas. I'm talking: shorts and a tee shirt weather. This is not a complaint. I prefer warm weather to cold. But still, it seems strange to run the air conditioner in January.
I returned to work yesterday and Pearl's first day back at preschool was today. Both of these transitions have gone well. I must confess I was very happy to be back at the office. The sense of routine and order is comforting.
We're hoping that Carrie will adjust to something more cyclical in her days and nights soon. She is six weeks old. This past week, we've had good nights and bad nights. That's very encouraging. Because after a string of those bad (sleepless) nights, a parent can get a little bit blue, you know?
I feel your pain!!!

6 weeks, usually to the day, is when parents of two stop saying "What were we thinking -- two kids???"
Wishing you some ZZZZs and a few of those heart-melting, poorly-coordinated, 6-week-old smiles.

You guys got it too good. I haven't seen the sun in literally weeks. Today the weather guy promised that tomorrow the sun might come out *briefly*.

Yep, 6 weeks is the magic day. At 3 months it gets even better. Wishing you a few hours of uninterrupted snoozes until then!

Don't forget she was early and give her a week or two of grace time. Nat was supposedly two to three weeks early, but she is developmentally "behind" by about 4-5 weeks, so we are convinced she was earlier than the doctors thought. I always have to remind myslef not to get impatient with her and to think of her as a month younger. When I remember to do that, it works fine. Alas, this meant she didn't outgrow the colic until about 15 weeks instead of everyone's promised 12, but she always arrives in the end, so it's all good.
