When I was 10, my class watched a film strip (anyone remember them?) about erosion in our earth science
class . At the end of the film, we were given some statistics about how many thousands of square miles of U.S. land would wash out to sea each year becaue of the dreadful monster, EROSION! I remember lying in bed at night worrying about it. The weight of the world, right!
Since Bush became president, we've seen many signs of the erosion of individual rights, and the case of gay and lesbian Americans is a shining example. Here's the next instance, in Massachusetts, the land of legal gay marriages. Argh! It's from All Things Considered, March 30, 2006.
Robin, I cannot say how deeply the loss of your basic civil rights touches me. I think a gov't that proposes laws to strip rather than support undeniable human rights is an evil gov't and I am very sorry to see that we live in a place and time that fits that description.
And they call themselves Christians. I shake my head in disbelief and know in my heart that they are terribly wrong.
