Things are happening. Marcia, Pearl, and Jojo left Houston (I hope) on a plane bound for Oregon. We never watch television, and so the whole amber alert event was news to us as we approached the airport. Since I haven't heard from them in the past two hours, I'm assuming they made it into the sky.
Oregon is home to Marcia's sister, her partner, and their two children, who are the same ages as Carrie and Pearl. Yes, there are two lesbian clans in our immediate families. It's kind of cool, especially because we really don't hang with too many gay families here in Houston.
Marcia was very nervous about the trip, even without the high security scare. She starting packing early (unusual for her) and repacked several times last night. Pearl said she wanted to go home tiwce before we got out of the driveway. When we drove up to terminal C this morning, the lines to check bags at 7:30 a.m. were way out the doors. I'm at work; Back-to-school is a busy time of year for me. Grindstone time!
