Pearl is studying the weather. By "weather," I don't mean the science of weather, the cold fronts or tropical storms. I just mean that she's learning the vocabulary of weather. Here in Houston, the two weather words most likely to succeed are always (1) hot, and (2) humid.
Dessert animals adapt to the heat by sleeping during the day and forraging for food and fun at night. In these parts, playing outside means playing in the sprinkler pretty much every time, whether that was our original intention or not. In this photo, our neighbors Ken and Avery joined us.
