I also received a "Top Mom Blog" award but I think it is just a marketing scam. Please take a look at my post about it,http://www.mamacita.tv/2007/04/best_mom_blogger_awards_exploits_women.php.
I hate to see us exploited!

I considered whether or not to post the Top 100 logo to my blog before doing so. I wondered about Daniel because he didn't identify himself as being part of a company or organization. But it seems to me that a for-profit and a non-profit have the same right to chose the Top 100 mommy blogs. One question that seems important to me is this--is there a through and fair process by which the awards were given? When I reviewed the list of 100 Mommy blogs, it did seem to me that the blogs on the list were ones that I respect and read. Also --and this may be ignorance on my part--but I don't know of significant prizes being involved in any of these webbies or bloggies or other awards that have appeared over the past 5 years. Getting the award is just an honor, and it brings more attention to the winning blogs. If the Mother's Day Central website is using the award to draw traffic to their website, I wonder is that is significantly different from other corporate sponsorships. Maybe I'm jaded beyond belief? Please tell me if you think so!
