I couldn't come up with a positive spin on our Arkansas vacation. There were good moments, of course. There always are. But we had more than our usually share of woes.
First, Marcia's grandmother passed away. She was 99 years old. She died in the night with Marcia's dad holding her hand, singing her hymns. But death is final and unknowable. What is there to say.
Then, everyone got sick. Pearl graduated from strep throat to whooping cough, although we don't think that diagnosis is probably accurate. Then Carrie got it. Then Marcia. Now me. Parties were canceled. Plans altered. We didn't see much of the family members this trip.
And the beat goes on.
How was your weekend?
Sorry the weekend wasn't stellar. Very sorry about Marcia's grandmother. I hope everyone is finding peace. I have to say, though, I think I would want to go at 99 years old, quietly in the night with my son holding my hand.
Hope everyone is feeling better!

Give Marcia our love. But how wonderful she wasn't alone. My grandmother died at our home in my bed. It's so much more peaceful.
Get well!

That pupppy looks highly uncertain there!
I'm sorry about Marcia's grandmother. No matter how old, it's never easy.

One of the worst family getaways I've ever had was when we went to Colorado and we stayed at a dirty and cold hotel.I got sick and should keep the bed the whole vacation.
