I got tagged by Mieke (2 weeks ago but who's counting) to post seven things on this blog that you might not know about me. Usually I ignore memes without guilt, but for Mieke? Here goes.
1) When I was 9, the science teacher showed us a documentary about erosion. Every night for months I lay in bed worrying because I thought the entire country was in danger of being washed out to sea. Immediately.
2) I have collected postage stamps since I was 10. Yes, I am still doing it.
3) When I was 5, my best friend was a boy named Block. One day we were speculating about what number, exactly, was the largest number in the world. Block felt confident that his father would know the answer because he was a banker. The next day Block reported back. He said the highest number was a fiddity. I was dubious. How could that be right, I asked. If you could have one fiddity, couldn't you also have two fiddity, three fiddity, or fifty for that matter?
4) My feet are ridiculously narrow. In dress shoes, I wear an AAAA width. It makes shoe-shopping quite a chore. I have been known to get shoes that fit me resoled for ten years or more.
5) In the late 80s I lived in NYC in the Hotel Chelsea. The first time my parents visited, my mother cried when she saw my room.
6) I have a Phd. In poetry.
7) Before Pearl and Carrie were born, I always imagined that if Marcia and I had kids, we would have two boys. Every now and then I think about that.
Part of the meme is to tag people to pay it forward. I choose Cake, Susoz, Christa, Jessica, and Katie-- this mission is yours, should you chose to accept it.
Thanks for playing.
I loved your afiddy story. It made me giggle.
