What surprises me most about my life so far?

It's very simple - I'm good at it and I don't need to constantly try to be better at it :)

I'm a good mom. I could never have imagined the patience I've learned in 17 years.

Being a lesbian mother is pretty surprising.

Being a parent and being less-abled than I used to be. Having to slow down and not have everything perfect (both from being a parent and physical limitations) has been the hardest, strangest -- and most liberating -- experience of my life.
