Every month I update the listings of Pearl and Carrie's favorite books in the sidebar. Shifting gears a bit, here are MY favorite picture books of the month (and I'm choosing these books for the artwork more than for the stories):
ABC's by Charley Harper
Gwango's Lonesome Trail
The Octonauts and the Sea of Shade
If you have a favorite illustrator this month, please let us know.

Eugene Field's version of Winken, Blinken, and Nod, which is illustrated by Johanna Westerman. One of the three kids is a girl, and there's a black cat on every page, and the art is just stunning.

Our son is a big Octonauts fan, too. Do you have The Octonauts and the Only Lonely Monster? Also recommended. Nice theme about friends and individuality as well as great illustrations.

We loved Gwango but have never heard of Octonauts. Must find. Mark Teague is one of my favorite authors for the young set (all those How do Dinosaur... books and things like Pancakes for Supper) and I like Brian Selznick, who mostly illustrates for the older set. There are so many other great ones I could name if only I'd get up and walk to the bookshelf across the room...
