A Few Things to Celebrate in Early August

  1. Garrison Keillor mentioned my great grandparents on the Writer's Almanac this morning. They helped Louis Armstrong buy his first cornet.
  2. The new poet laureate is Kay Ryan.
  3. The video podcasts by They Must Be Giants are free and cute and possibly even educational. And kids love them.


4. We have water, flashlights, and granola bars just in case. But please be kind to us (all of us), Tropical Storm Edouard.
