1. Hey. Anybody out there?
2. It's been quite a November for me, so far. Lots of ups and downs. My cousin died of an aneurysm, but I didn't go to the funeral. I had an unusual mammogram, but it turned out to be nothing. I was thrilled that Obama won the election but baffled that Arkansas, my home state, passed some of the most hateful legislation against LGBT people to date.
3. Carrie will be 3 this weekend. It's been fun planning for the birthday in that she really understands about birthdays this time around. The theme of her party is Diego, and for the kids at her school, I made a flyer as a party invitation. On the top there's a picture of Diego swinging on a vine, and at the bottom there's a picture of Carrie swinging on the jungle gym. She likes this a lot and has posted it on the headboard of her bed.
4. Pearl has had some major milestones this month, as I have mentioned. She's also had a few bouts of obsessive hand washing that freak me out. I am assuming it's just a phase... a few steps forward, a few steps back. Love rules in Grrrlville.
Your turn.
The memorial service for Kent was very nice and very emotional. The only bright side of it was seeing the rest of the family, which is such a rare event. I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet your family.
We were equally baffled and upset that prop 8 passed in California.

I'm here! I'm sorry about your cousin. But I am glad that you are ok.
I am heartsick over the laws that passed in CA, AR and FL.

Wow! That's a lot. I'm sorry about your cousin, but relieved that your mammogram turned out okay.
Considering the amount of effort expended by certain people in CA, I'm puzzled that Prop. 8 went through, but not too surprised. I think it'll eventually be overturned, though. On the other hand, I'm livid about what happened in AR. Livid.

I dont do well at funerals, and for that reason I don't usually go. Sending Happy Birthday Wishes to Carrie!

I'm here! I can't believe that Carrie is almost three. It makes me realize how long I have been reading your blog. Thanks for writing it!

Oh, Robin, I had no idea about your cousin. I'm so sorry.
I had a "What's wrong? Oh, nothing after all." breast thing as well this summer. But one of my friends is a doctor of radiology, so I always go to the place where she's in charge of mammograms. She makes sure they take extra good care of me there. This summer she wasn't there the day I went in, and the doctor who came to see me introduced himself (it sounded like) as Dr. Sex. I nearly burst out laughing.
(His name's really Dr. Sax, my friend says.)
Oh, and Eliot is occaionally O/C about things. I hope it's normal.

I've been doing my share of whining about Prop. 8 in California, but that Arkansas one was beyond evil.
I think a little mild OCD can actually be a plus. I've spent years aligning things with the edge of my desk...but at least I have a very neat desk. The OCD also makes me more of a project finisher than I think I would be otherwise. Useful for a writer!

Three? Golly, time flies! She's a pip, no doubt about it.
