Young children are natural artists. Lots of people have said that before me, but I agree. Lacking the preconceptions that we attribute to knowledge and experience, children are able to create and innovate more freely.
In the famous words of Pablo Picasso: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
Pearl and Carrie have been sick this week and have been spending a lot more time indoors than usual. You can see Carrie's work on the left, and Pearl's is on the right.
so true, so beautiful

Harris was home sick on Wednesday, with pinkeye. he drew and drew all day long. LOTS of pics of weapons. and skulls, with flames leaping out. he's also really into drawing these action shots, where you see the person falling out of the tree and bonking the person below on the head. i love his drawings...and i'm trying to NOT be disturbed by the content. i encourage him. and yet....what's wrong with drawing flowers? and trees? i swear it'd encoded into their DNA to be drawn to weapons. oy.
